The Pittsburgh Steelers placed cornerback Jalen Ramsey on the physically unable to perform list after the eight-time Pro Bowler sustained a knee injury before training camp.
Steelers general manager Omar Khan also announced Tuesday that offensive tackle Broderick Jones (neck) is cleared to begin practicing on Wednesday but cornerback Donte Kent (foot) has also been placed on the PUP list.
Khan stressed that the injury sustained by Ramsey during minicamp does not appear to be long-term and does not require surgery.
“He’s recovering,” Khan said. “Just probably be a couple weeks if I had to guess on his return. We’re just going to be smart about it. He’s a pro. You guys know how hard he works.”
Ramsey, 31, was dealt to Pittsburgh last summer in a swap that sent safety Minkah Fitzpatrick back to Miami. He recorded 88 tackles, three sacks and one interception in 17 games with the Steelers.
He has totaled 622 tackles and 25 interceptions in 152 career games with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Rams, Dolphins and Steelers since being drafted fifth overall in 2016.
Jones, 25, suffered a season-ending neck injury in 2025.
“Obviously, we’re going to be smart in terms of how we progress him,” Khan said of Jones. “But you guys will see him out there on Wednesday.”
Jones has started 38 of his 45 games since being selected by the Steelers with the 14th overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Kent, 24, was placed on injured reserve on Aug. 28, approximately 3 1/2 months after signing with Pittsburgh. He was selected by the Steelers in the seventh round in 2025.
