St. Louis center Dylan Peterson is scheduled to make his NHL debut Tuesday night when the Blues visit the Ottawa Senators.
Peterson, 24, will be playing in familiar territory after being recalled from AHL Springfield on Saturday.
Though Peterson was born in Roseville, Calif., his family moved around a lot. The Ottawa area was one of their stops, and Peterson played minor hockey there.
“I’ve got a lot of family. I played in Ottawa quite a bit growing up,” he said. “It’s a lot of family and friends and it’s just going to be really special to share it with them.”
Peterson skated on the fourth line along with Pius Suter and Ross Johnston during practice on Monday.
“He’s been playing well down there (in Springfield),” Blues coach Jim Montgomery said. “He is your prototypical fourth-line player. We’re going on the road here for three games and we think he’s going to add an edge to our game and more of a fourth-line presence.”
St. Louis defeated the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets 5-3 on Saturday night to end a three-game losing streak (0-2-1).
Jonatan Berggren’s goal 9:33 into the third period broke a 3-3 tie after St. Louis rallied from a 2-0 deficit.
Jimmy Snuggerud had two goals, Jake Neighbours also scored and Pavel Buchnevich added an empty-net tally. Dylan Holloway dished out three assists, and Jordan Binnington made 20 saves.
The top line of Snuggerud, Holloway and center Robert Thomas combined for six points as Thomas picked up an assist. He and Holloway each earned their first points of the season.
Snuggerud tops the team with three goals through the first five games. His four points are tied for first along with Connor McMichael and Mason McTavish, who have two goals and two assists each.
The Senators (5-1-0) are off to their best start since 2007-08 after a 4-1 victory over the host New Jersey Devils on Monday night to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving.
Tim Stutzle continued his hot start with a goal and an assist to give him five goals and 10 points. He paces the squad in both categories for the young season.
“It’s great. We’re playing good hockey,” Stutzle said.
Linus Ullmark made 29 saves for his fifth win in five games in 2026-27, dropping his goals-against average to 1.27 and raising his save percentage to .948. Ullmark was denied the shutout with 5:01 left.
However, with the Senators playing back-to-back games, Samuel Ersson (0-1, 3.85 GAA, .886 save percentage in two games) likely will get the start on Tuesday against the Blues.
Ottawa’s Shane Pinto, Stephen Halliday (power play) and defenseman Tyler Kleven (empty net) also scored on Monday.
The Senators probably will continue to be without defensemen Jake Sanderson (lower body) and Artem Zub (knee), according to coach Travis Green. Sanderson was injured in the season opener, and Zub has yet to suit up in 2026-27.
“I don’t think either one of them will play (Tuesday),” Green said. “Hopefully, we’ll see them soon, though.”
Defenseman Nikolas Matinpalo left the game with an upper-body injury in the middle of the first period after being sent awkwardly to the boards from behind by the Devils’ Anthony Mantha, who received a five-minute boarding major.
“It’s pretty obvious what the injury is,” Green said. “We’ll have to wait and see how he is (Tuesday).”
